The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s leading mixed martial arts organization, has announced a landmark, multiyear partnership with Meta Platforms, establishing the technology giant as the UFC’s first-ever official fan technology partner.

This comprehensive alliance is poised to transform the way fans experience UFC events and interact with the sport through the integration of Meta’s cutting-edge technologies.

This strategic collaboration will see a deep and innovative integration of various Meta platforms and technologies into the UFC ecosystem. Fans can anticipate engaging new content powered by Meta AI, unique perspectives captured through Meta Glasses during events, and immersive fan experiences leveraging Meta Quest. Furthermore, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp will play vital roles in expanding the UFC’s reach and fostering a stronger sense of community among its global fanbase. Notably, Threads has been named the official social media partner of the UFC, positioning it as the central digital hub for real-time fan discussions and exclusive content surrounding UFC events.

Beyond platform integration, Meta will also become the official AI glasses partner of the UFC, suggesting exciting possibilities for leveraging this technology to enhance both the fan experience and potentially even aspects of broadcast production. The partnership will also grant Meta significant visibility during UFC events, including prominent brand placement within the iconic Octagon and integration into Pay-Per-View and Fight Night broadcasts. Additionally, creative in-arena fan activations are planned to bring the Meta experience directly to those attending live events.

UFC President and CEO, Dana White, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and said, “I’ve had a lot of great partners over the years that have helped us grow this sport, but Mark and his team at Meta are going to do things that will blow away UFC fans. Meta has the greatest minds in tech and they are going to take fan engagement to the next level.  We’ve already started to work on some innovations with Meta around a new fighter rankings system that I’ll be sharing soon. The next few years will be an absolute game changer for fans of this sport.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, commented, “I love this sport and I’m looking forward to working with the UFC to let fans experience it in new ways.”

A key initial focus of the partnership will be establishing Threads as the primary social media platform for UFC-related discussions. Threads will host exclusive, original content centred around major UFC moments, aiming to ignite conversations and cultivate a vibrant online community for fans worldwide. This dedicated space will allow fans to connect in real-time, share their reactions, and access behind-the-scenes content like never before.

This partnership marks a pivotal moment for the UFC, embracing the transformative potential of emerging technologies to connect with its global fanbase on a deeper and more interactive level. It also underscores Meta’s continued commitment to fostering communities and enriching live event experiences within its expanding digital ecosystem.

The collaboration is expected to roll out in phases throughout the coming months, with the unveiling of the new fighter ranking system and increased exclusive content on Threads anticipated to be among the first initiatives. This groundbreaking alliance promises to redefine the landscape of UFC fan engagement and set a new benchmark for how sports organizations connect with their audiences in the digital age.
