The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team and Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team have announced TeamViewer as a new official partner. As part of this deal, TeamViewer will provide both teams with cutting-edge technology to drive greater performance over the next five years.
The software company breaks new ground as the first brand to agree on a new partnership with Mercedes in Formula One and Formula E, including prominent branding on both cars and the drivers’ racing suits. As the only manufacturer competing in both series, Mercedes is uniquely positioned to deliver this partnership.
TeamViewer will provide optimized remote operations and enhanced connectivity between team processes trackside and back at base, notably in terms of race support during testing and racing.
Toto Wolff, CEO and Team Principal of the Mercedes F1 Team said, “We are thrilled to announce this new partnership with TeamViewer. Motorsport is a proven catalyst for technology and business development, and we are excited to work together on both fronts over the coming years. Companies like TeamViewer will make a meaningful difference to CO2 emissions on a much greater scale. I’m excited to welcome them to the team – and looking forward to seeing their brand enter the global stage with our Monaco races in May.”
This is TeamViewer’s second major deal in the past few weeks. They have signed a five year long shirt sponsorship deal with Manchester United. Considering the growth of the software in past few years, these two deals are massive coups for them. Mercedes and Manchester United will give them exposure at global level due to their big fan following.
Going into the 2021 season there is a lot of speculation over Mercedes continuing their domination in the F1 circuit. Red Bull are being considered as the title contenders leaving behind Ferrari. They have put a lot of faith in Max Verstappen to deliver the title this season.
Going into the first race of the season in The Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit Verstappen and Redbull were considered as the favourites, but Hamilton and Mercedes proved them wrong by winning what was a close battle for the first position. Valtteri Bottas finished in the third position with the team gaining 41 points for the constructor’s championship.
Mercedes have become one of the most successful F1 teams in recent history. The team has won both the drivers and the constructor’s championship consecutively for seven years in a row. This kind of domination has never been seen before in formula one history. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has equalled the record for the most driver’s championship with Michael Schumacher (seven times).
