Melbourne Stars have confirmed a new commercial partnership with James Hardie, adding one of Australia’s most established building materials brands to the club’s sponsorship portfolio for the ongoing Big Bash League season.

Under the agreement, James Hardie joins the Stars as an official partner for BBL|15, marking the brand’s entry into elite domestic cricket sponsorship.

The partnership will deliver a combination of matchday and digital exposure, with James Hardie integrated across in-stadium branding at Stars fixtures and supported by a season-long content and activation programme across the club’s owned platforms. The collaboration is designed to engage family and community audiences, aligning the brand with one of Australia’s most widely watched and accessible sporting competitions.

John Arneil, President of James Hardie Asia-Pacific, said, “Cricket is more than a sport – it inspires resilience, builds pride and creates shared moments under the Aussie sun. This season, we’re supporting a game that reflects our shared values of teamwork, integrity, and connection. Partnering with Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Stars will help us reach new audiences and support the communities where we live, work and play.

“Hardie™ fibre cement products are Australian-made and engineered for local conditions, delivering exteriors that are durable, beautiful and efficient to install. It’s how we help Victorians build modern homes with confidence, combining performance with design versatility to suit the way Australia is building today.”

Melbourne Stars General Manager, Max Abbott, added, “We’re delighted to partner with James Hardie, an iconic Australian brand with a strong commitment to quality, innovation and community. The Melbourne Stars bring people of all backgrounds and ages together, providing a great platform to connect with Victorian families and builders. We look forward to working together to deliver great experiences and value for our fans throughout the season.”

The partnership will be activated across the Stars’ home matches, including high-profile fixtures at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with a focus on integrated fan engagement rather than standalone brand visibility.

The deal reflects a broader trend within the Big Bash League, as non-endemic brands increasingly leverage cricket’s mass reach and family-friendly positioning to build awareness and community connection, while providing clubs with stable commercial support in a competitive sponsorship market.
