McLaren Racing inks sponsorship deal with Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs and McLaren will use their combined experience to facilitate transformation in the latter's journey to a more sustainable future.

The Formula 1 team, McLaren Racing, has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the global financial giant, Goldman Sachs. The deal foresees the company’s logo to appear on the design of the McLaren MCL36 racing cars for the remaining 2022 F1 season and beyond.

McLaren Racing Limited is a British motor racing team headquartered in Woking, Surrey, England. It competes in Formula 1, the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater race cars.

Goldman Sachs and McLaren will use their combined experience to facilitate transformation in the latter’s journey to a more sustainable future, with a common view that sustainability involves addressing social, environmental, and economic consequences. In accordance with the UN Sports for Climate Action programme and the Race to Zero campaign, McLaren wants to reduce its GHG footprint by half by 2030 and attain net-zero by 2040.

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a New York-based American global investment bank and financial services firm.

On the agreement, McLaren said, “brings together two high-performance organizations with a focus on excellence.”

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Goldman Sachs, a global institution that shares McLaren Racing’s own values in recognising the importance of sustainability. As we work to achieve our bold long-term goals, Goldman Sachs’ support will provide an invaluable boost in fast-tracking our progress.

“Goldman Sachs will be a key partner in our sustainability journey, and we look forward to collaborating to make a positive contribution to our team, communities, and the wider world.”

Fiona Carter, Goldman Sachs’ Chief Marketing Officer added, “Goldman Sachs and McLaren share an ambition to accelerate progress for the fans, our clients and in our communities. Together we’re excited to see what’s possible when we push our collective technical and intellectual expertise to the limit.”
