Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer invests in Esports

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has entered the esports industry by signing an agreement to become one of the major owners of Norwegian esports company ULTI Agency. Along with the Premier League manager, high-profile football agent, Jim Solbakken has also signed the agreement.

According to the release by ULTI Agency on their website, both Solskjær and Solbakken will now acquire 12.5 percent stakes in the company each through their management companies, namely Grip Management AS and Sir Solution AS respectively. However, the financial details regarding the investment are yet to be disclosed.

On this latest development, the Norwegian player-turned-manager has been delighted to become a majority stakes holder. He said, “Esports have become bigger than anyone would have dared to predict just a few years ago. It spreads the joy of sports worldwide. That is exciting, and Ulti Agency is a company with big plans. They’re all about seeing the players and giving them a chance”

The esports company, which was established in the middle of the pandemic, has been operating for a bit more than six months. The agency is already managing and representing some of the best esports talents worldwide, just the way done in soccer. Along with managing and representing players and teams primarily for CS:GO, the firm also provides business ideas and strategies to those entering the rapidly growing field.

Jim Solbakken said, “There are already more than 1,000 highly paid professional e-sport players in the world. Both Ulti Agency and we as owners have a lot to contribute. We also see that soccer clubs are currently investing heavily in e-sports, which makes this extra interesting for us.”

The esports agency that recently opened an office in Seattle, is planning to further expand its operations to Asia and South America. To help execute these expansion plans, the new owners have invested in the company heavily. This news breaks out on the day when Manchester United booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after defeating Granada. The Norwegian manager is looking to win the first piece of silverware with Manchester United.
