The defending Premier League (PL) champions, Manchester City FC have developed a new partnership with the Spanish-based sports venue advertising company, StairMedia.
StairMedia is a technology business that develops revolutionary LED technology solutions for advertising on staircase steps in sporting arenas. This maximises advertisement visibility and enables broadcasting cameras to collect and air photos during events and fixtures.
StairMedia is the only firm in the world licensed to commercialise this breakthrough technique, and the brand is an expert in identifying optimal locations for installation in sports venues.
In 2023, the LED technology was installed at the Etihad Stadium and easily incorporated into the club’s advertising portfolio. This invention increased brand awareness for advertisers in previously untapped areas of the stadium.
Kaitlyn Beale, VP of Global Partnership Sales at City Football Group, commented, “As the most watched football team globally across all competitions for the second consecutive year, Manchester City’s growing audience means more eyes are on our brand and partner advertisements than ever before. With the addition of StairMedia’s dynamic LED system on the steps of the East Stand, alongside our Supersized LED system already in place, the club continues to set the standard for incorporating cutting-edge technology into stadium advertising and we are proud to offer our partners the opportunity to connect with our global audience through these high exposure branding platforms.”
Francisco J. Ortiz, CEO of StairMedia, said, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Manchester City, a team that shares our passion for innovation and excellence. The StairMedia system strategically placed on the stairwells will bring an unprecedented level of engagement and excitement to the fan experience. Our cutting-edge technology will not only enhance the match day atmosphere but also provide a unique platform for brands to connect with fans. As the landscape of content consumption grows more competitive, one thing remains constant: sports continue to dominate across all platforms.
“No other content draws as many viewers globally, and soccer leads the charge as the world most-watched sport. At StairMedia we understand the power of this connection. That’s why we are the partner for brands aiming to reach the largest and most engaged audiences through the unparalleled reach of sports, especially soccer.”
In recent times, the club also developed a sponsorship extension with its long-term partner and the video game developer, Electronic Arts (EA) Sports. Furthermore, the team also scored commercial deals with Jacob & Co., Corpay and Yili Group.
