Major League Rugby ropes in Kappa as official kit partner

The arrangement between MLR and Kappa will allow the Italian brand to curate match kits, training kits, and fanwear for every 13 teams participating in the competition.

The Major League Rugby (MLR) has secured a brand-new partnership with the Italian sportswear company, Kappa.

As per the agreement, Kappa has been named the official kit partner and official league sponsor of the tournament for the next three years.

The arrangement between the two bodies will allow the Italian brand to curate match kits, training kits, and fanwear for every 13 teams participating in the competition.

Expressing his comments on the new collaboration, Harry Hardy, Major League Rugby’s Chief Commercial Officer, said, “As MLR continues to grow its following both in the U.S. and internationally, we felt it was important to align with a brand that represents quality, innovative design and has a rich heritage in rugby and other various sports all over the world. We look forward to seeing the Kappa brand on our players, coaches, and fans in all MLR stadiums this season and beyond.”

Daniel Drew, Director of Kappa Team Sports, said, “We are incredibly excited to join forces with Major League Rugby, a league that embodies the spirit of the game. Our partnership signifies not just a collaboration between a brand and a league, but a harmony of values and dedication. We are committed to enhancing the MLR experience for players and fans alike, and we can’t wait to unveil our creations that bear the iconic Omini Kappa logo.”

Established in 1978 by Marco Boglione in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, Kappa is an Italian sportswear company that branched out from the already established “Robe di Kappa” line of clothing. Having provided uniforms for numerous elite teams in previous years, Kappa has an extensive track record in rugby. Presently, it has affiliations with several European domestic clubs, notably those in the Top 14 of France.
