London City Lionesses, the Women’s Super League (WSL) club, have announced a new partnership with Mastercard, a global leader in secure payment technologies.

The pact has been inked to accelerate the growth of women’s football. The club will work together to develop elite experiences that bring fans closer to the game than ever before.

As the club’s official partner, Mastercard will provide cardholders and supporters with a variety of Priceless Experiences that will enhance the matchday experience, ranging from player meet-and-greets to opportunities for young fans to go onto the pitch as player mascots.
The partnership has formally begun on December 7, with the team’s WSL match against Brighton and Hove Albion at the CopperJax Community Stadium in Bromley. Fans can look forward to a variety of on-the-day activities to commemorate the launch.

Mastercard will also become the naming partner of the team’s Sister Clubs programme, which ties the inaugural team with local teams. The initiative will involve a series of coaching seminars, London City training experiences, and team-wide interaction aimed at inspiring and developing the next generation of athletes.

The association will also include the hosting of the Mastercard Sister Club event, an annual celebratory football event that brings together local teams at the Cobdown Park training facility in Kent.

Charlie Carrington, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, UK and Ireland, Mastercard, said, “Mastercard has been championing women’s sport for 25 years, and we’ve witnessed first-hand its meteoric rise. We’re thrilled to stand alongside London City Lionesses and their mission to reimagine what’s possible for women’s football. This is more than a sponsorship; it’s a shared commitment to creating Priceless Experiences for fans, athletes and communities whilst paving the way for the next generation.”

Michele Kang, Owner, London City Lionesses, commented, “Partnering with Mastercard reflects our ambition to drive progress in women’s football. Mastercard’s dedication to sport over a long period of time, including their sponsorship of OL Lyonnes, matches our vision to build a global community. Most importantly, this partnership allows us to uplift female athletes, grow the fanbase, and shape the future of women’s football.”

Mastercard’s partnership with the London City Lionesses expands on the company’s long-standing worldwide commitment to women’s sports, which includes sponsorships of Olympique Lyonnais, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), the AIG Women’s Open, and the Billie Jean Cup.
