Liverpool FC have appointed Turkish Airlines as their new main club partner in a five-year agreement beginning with the 2027-28 season, bringing an end to Standard Chartered’s 17-year tenure as the club’s principal front-of-shirt partner.
The partnership will commence on June 1, 2027, with Turkish Airlines’ branding appearing on the front of the shirts worn by Liverpool’s men’s first team, women’s team and Academy. While the financial terms have not been officially disclosed, reports value the agreement at more than £300 million over five years, placing its annual value above £60 million and making it one of the most significant front-of-shirt deals in European football.
The agreement represents a major commercial milestone for Liverpool as the club continues to expand the value of its global commercial portfolio. Standard Chartered, which became the club’s main club partner in 2010, will remain part of Liverpool’s commercial network, moving into a global partner role from the 2027-28 campaign.
Ben Latty, Chief Commercial Officer at LFC, said, “This is a milestone announcement for us, and we are delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines as our main club partner from June 2027. The front of the Liverpool shirt holds a special place in the history of our club. Turkish Airlines is a globally recognised organisation with an extensive international network, and we look forward to beginning our partnership and building a strong relationship together, with already strong foundations built from those special memories back in 2005.
“This announcement also provides an opportunity to recognise the extraordinary contribution Standard Chartered has made to Liverpool FC over the past 17 years. They have been an important part of our journey through an exceptional period in the club’s history, and we are delighted that Standard Chartered will remain part of the Liverpool FC family as a global partner from June 2027. As we prepare for this transition, we look forward to this new season and welcoming Turkish Airlines as our main club partner from June 2027.”
Ahmet Olmustur, Turkish Airlines CEO, added, “Liverpool Football Club is one of the world’s most recognised and respected football clubs, with an exceptional heritage and a truly global community of supporters. We are very pleased that Turkish Airlines will become the club’s main club partner and that our name will take its place on one of the most iconic shirts in world sport.
“As the airline that flies to more countries than any other, connecting people, cultures and continents is at the heart of who we are. This partnership brings together two global brands united by their international reach, commitment to excellence and ability to inspire millions of people around the world. The agreement also marks an important new chapter in Turkish Airlines’ long-standing support for global sport. We believe in the unique power of sport to transcend borders and bring communities together. As we begin this new chapter, we look forward to moving forward together with Liverpool FC and its supporters around the world.”
For Turkish Airlines, the partnership provides a major global football platform aligned with its strategy of building international brand visibility through sport. The airline’s extensive international network creates opportunities for activations around travel, hospitality, supporter experiences and fan engagement.
The Liverpool agreement adds to Turkish Airlines’ growing sports portfolio, which includes partnerships with the Turkish national football teams and UEFA Champions League, alongside investments across golf and other international sporting properties.
The Istanbul connection provides an additional layer to the partnership. Liverpool’s 2005 Champions League final comeback against AC Milan remains one of the defining moments in the club’s modern history and gives the new relationship an established narrative around one of football’s most iconic occasions.
The commercial transition comes as Liverpool enters a new sporting era under head coach Andoni Iraola, who has succeeded Arne Slot. The club has also strengthened its squad during the summer transfer window with additions including Giorgi Mamardashvili, Ronald Araújo and Bradley Barcola.
With Turkish Airlines becoming only the sixth front-of-shirt sponsor in Liverpool’s history, the agreement underlines both the scarcity and growing commercial value of one of football’s most recognisable sponsorship assets.
