LIV Golf and DAZN team up to disrupt golf broadcasting with free global streaming

This strategic alliance leverages DAZN’s global reach to dismantle paywalls and directly engage a wider audience with LIV Golf’s product.

LIV Golf has forged a groundbreaking multi-year agreement with DAZN, a leading global sports streaming service, in a move that aims to democratize access to the burgeoning golf league and further disrupt the traditional broadcasting landscape.

The centrepiece of the partnership is the launch of LIV Golf+ on DAZN, a dedicated, ad-supported streaming channel that will broadcast all the breakaway golf league events live and free-to-air to fans across over 200 global markets (excluding the US, Spain, Korea, Australia, China and Russia). This strategic alliance leverages DAZN’s global reach to dismantle paywalls and directly engage a wider audience with LIV Golf’s product.

By offering its content for free through LIV Golf+ on DAZN, the league is signalling a clear intent to prioritize global viewership and accessibility over traditional revenue models.

In addition to the free global offering, DAZN has secured exclusive broadcast rights for the professional golf league in several key territories, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and Switzerland, indicating a tiered approach to maximizing reach and revenue.

LIV Golf+ on DAZN will provide comprehensive live coverage and exclusive content, including innovative features like the “Any Shot, Any Time” technology. DAZN will create a dedicated space on its platform to house the league’s content, fostering a community around the league.

The announcement arrived shortly after DAZN received a substantial investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also backs the breakaway golf league, highlighting the financial and strategic alignment driving this expansion.

The partnership between the Saudi-backed golf league and DAZN, particularly the launch of the free LIV Golf+ channel, represents a bold move to broaden the league’s global appeal and challenge established norms in golf broadcasting. It remains to be seen how this will impact the broader golf ecosystem, but it undoubtedly marks a significant moment in the sport’s media landscape. DAZN also carries content from the PGA TOUR, the DP World Tour and Major tournaments.
