Levante sign Gedesco as new shirt sponsor

Gedesco replaces the betting company Betway as Levante's shirt sponsor.

La Liga club Levante has inked a new shirt sponsorship deal with the finance company Gedesco for the 2021/22 La Liga season.

Gedesco’s logo will also be visible on Levante’s training kits and the club’s grassroots football teams’ uniforms along with the team’s matchday shirts. Gedesco will also have a brand presence in the club’s stadium.

The agreement is for one year with the value of the sponsorship yet to be disclosed.

Gedesco replaces the betting company Betway as Levante’s shirt sponsor. The Spanish club had to cancel its previous deal with Betway following the Spanish government’s recent ban on betting sponsorships.

Several La Liga clubs had to conclude their deals with the betting brands. As the competition commenced, Alaves, Mallorca, Real Sociedad, Cadiz, and Granada – were still without a main sponsor as they had to end their existing partnerships with betting brands.

Real Betis had to eliminate its previous deal with Betway under the new legislation, agreed to a deal with Finetwork earlier this month.

Javier Garcia Escrivá, a founding partner at Gedesco, said, “For us it is a pride. We are a Valencian company and it will be a good relationship for the future.”

Levente’s President Quico Catalan said, “This is a sponsor that was founded and that is based in Valencia and is to be appreciated.”

He further added, “That Gedesco has understood the Levante project is cause for satisfaction.”

The new sponsor debuted on Levante’s shirts during the team’s 3-3 draw at home against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The new ‘Garzón law’ by the Spanish government has introduced the prohibition of betting sponsorships. Several La Liga clubs are still without a main shirt sponsor.
