Legends League Cricket 2022: Franchise Partners

The competition will take place in six cities across India, five of which are Kolkata, Cuttack, Jodhpur, Delhi and Lucknow.

The second edition of the highly anticipated T20 cricket competition, Legends League Cricket (LLC) is just a fortnight away and the build-up to the tournament is right on track. The cricket tournament will take place between September 16-October 5, 2022.

LLC 2022 will be conducted in India has certainly added to the hype around the event. The competition will take place in six cities across India, five of which are Kolkata, Cuttack, Jodhpur, Delhi and Lucknow. The venue for the playoffs is yet to be announced.

The inaugural edition was conducted entirely held in Oman and it was a three-team model while the organizers also didn’t sell any franchises. This time around, all four franchises have been sold. Some of the biggest Indian conglomerates have showcased their interest and acquired teams in the competition. Let’s have a look at the franchise partners of the tournament:

GMR Group:
The Indian conglomerate headquartered in New Delhi was one of the first two entities to acquire a team in the competition. With this acquisition, GMR Group registered its third franchise in cricket along with the Indian Premier League‘s (IPL) Delhi Capitals (DC) and International League T20’s Dubai Capitals. The group named its LLC franchise India Capitals.

The former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir has been named captain of the franchise.

Adani Group:
Adani Group made its second investment in franchise cricket by acquiring a team in LLC. The multinational conglomerate headquartered in Ahmedabad named its new franchise Gujarat Giants. The former destructive opener, Virender Sehwag has been assigned the duty to lead the team in the second season.

Manipal Education and Medical Group:
Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) was the third entity to acquire a team in the competition. The institution named the team Manipal Tigers and the off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was appointed as the captain of the unit.

LNJ Bhilwara Group:
LNJ Bhilwara Group was the last entity to obtain rights over a team in the competition. The diverse business conglomerate named its franchise Bhilwara Kings and has got onboard the Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan to take over the team as the skipper.
