The first game of Legends League Cricket (LLC) already kicked off yesterday with a strong battle between former India openers Gautam Gambhir (India Capitals) and Virender Sehwag (Gujarat Giants). The league began on September 16, when the World Giants played the India Maharajas in an exhibition game to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence.
Four teams will compete against each other twice during the 12-match league phase of Legends League Cricket. The top two teams at the conclusion of the league stage will compete in the Qualifier on October 2 at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur. The winning team from this match will progress straightforwardly to the final which will be played on October 5. The loser from the Qualifier game will play with the team in the third sport and the winner will become the second finalist of the season.
Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkata, Cuttack and Jodhpur are the five venues out of six in the competition. The venue for the playoffs is yet to be revealed.
