Lanka Premier League signs NFT partnership with Rario

This year the tournament will return for its second season and will start from 5th December.

The Sri Lankan T20 league, Lanka Premier League (LPL), has secured a partnership deal with the cricket NFT platform, Rario

Following this exclusive deal, Rario will be allowed to work around the digital collectibles of noteworthy moments in the T20 league. While this announcement also depicts the growing popularity of NFTs in cricket matches.

These NFTs or digital collectibles are some unique tokens that give the audiences or the fans a chance to secure singular ownership over their favourite moments. While NFTs can be associated with easily-reproducible items like photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files, and later it will use blockchain technology to give the digital collectibles a verified and public proof of their ownership of that item.

Before partnering with Lanka Premier League, Rario has also penned down a deal with the Caribbean Premier League and Abu Dhabi T-10. Following its partnership with two of the popular limited-overs domestic leagues, the NFT platform has seen a huge fan demand in the digital collectibles, and now it aims to explore the same business opportunity in LPL.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Mohan, Founder and CEO of Dubai-based production giant IPG, the official promoter of LPL said: “Through this league, we want to inspire a new generation of cricket lovers to carry on the rich legacy of Lankan cricket. This partnership will help us bring fans of all ages closer to the game, in a unique and modern way. We are delighted to partner with Rario and facilitate this new way for cricket lovers to cherish the game and create digital memories.”

The Lanka Premier League commenced last year with many young domestic players playing side-by-side with international stars like Lasith MalingaDale Steyn, etc. While the first season of the LPL was won by Jaffna Stallions. The upcoming season will start from 5th December.
