The Ladakh Marathon, the world’s highest AIMS-certified marathon, has added seven new sponsors ahead of its 12th edition in September, with record participation.
For the event, Bisleri remains the hydration partner, PUMA fortifies its position as the apparel partner, and Snickers comes in as the hunger partner. Bajaj Allianz has become the insurance partner, while Accord Hospital has been signed on as the health partner. Hotel Grand Dragon, Leh will be the hospitality partner, and Enerzal has become the energy partner. Collectively, these alliances demonstrate how the Ladakh Marathon has evolved into a premier athletic event as well as a venue for significant corporate partnerships.
The marathon, scheduled from September 11 to 14, will draw more than 6,600 participants from India and 30 other nations, which is the largest field in its history, while continuing to attract substantial commercial interest and maintaining its place as a leading running event worldwide.
Administrative Supporters, the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, especially the Ladakh Police and the Health Department of Leh, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, the Indian Army’s Fire & Fury Corps, the Border Roads Organisation, and 27 local communities will all play a vital role in providing essential on-ground assistance to ensure this scale. A safe and smooth execution throughout Leh, Khardung La, and Nubra will be ensured by their logistical support.
Chewang Motup Goba, Chairperson of High Altitude Sports Foundation, Founder and Organiser of the Ladakh Marathon, said, “What began in 2012 as Ladakh’s gift to the world has today become one of India’s premier races. The Ladakh Marathon has grown on the strength of its runners, its people, and the support of our partners, and it continues to showcase both endurance and resilience at the highest level. With each edition, we move closer to establishing it among the most distinctive marathons globally, while contributing to Ladakh’s identity on the international sporting stage.”
The 2025 event will have six races: the Silk Route Ultra (122 km, September 11), the Khardung La Challenge (72 km, September 12), the “Run Ladakh for Fun” 5 km (September 13), and the 11.2 km race, the Half Marathon (21 km), and the Full Marathon (42.195 km). Sustainability is important to operations, with single-use plastics prohibited since 2019, in line with the guiding philosophy “Leave Only Footprints Behind.”
The Ladakh Marathon, founded in the aftermath of the 2010 flash floods and officially started in 2012, has developed to become one of India’s most prestigious long-distance marathons. Over the years, it has attracted thousands of competitors from all over the world, ready to put themselves to the test against Ladakh’s thin air and steep passes.
