In a major milestone for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Google has joined LA28, Team USA, and NBCUniversal as a founding partner, cementing a partnership that blends technology, storytelling, and sport on a global scale.

As part of the agreement, Google becomes the official cloud provider of the LA28 Games, integrating its advanced AI, Search, and cloud technologies to elevate operations, fan experiences, and media coverage.

The partnership positions Google Cloud at the heart of Games operations, supporting everything from logistics and planning to the coordination of more than 70,000 workforce members and volunteers. LA28 will rely on Google Cloud’s infrastructure to streamline data systems and improve real-time decision-making, ensuring the Games run efficiently across venues throughout Los Angeles.

Beyond operations, Google’s role will be deeply visible to fans and viewers. AI tools, including Gemini and the new “AI Mode” in Google Search, will enable audiences to access personalized, real-time information about the Games, athletes, and events. The collaboration also extends to NBCUniversal’s Olympic coverage, where Google’s technology will power interactive storytelling and AI-enhanced viewing experiences. YouTube, Google’s flagship video platform, will further expand LA28’s reach, providing fans with athlete features, behind-the-scenes moments, and exclusive digital content produced in collaboration with NBCUniversal.

LA28 Chairperson and President, Casey Wasserman, said, “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to innovation and delivering a technologically advanced, engaging, and digitally accessible Games when we welcome the world in 2028. Google’s suite of products and tools will support our vision for uplifting the athlete, fan, and workforce experience, and ultimately make it easier for attendees to navigate venues, share their experiences, and stay informed in real time.”

Marvin Chow, Vice President of Marketing, Google, added, “With tools like Gemini and new Google Search features like AI Mode, it’s easier than ever for people to find the information they’re looking for, no matter how simple or complex. Our partnership with LA28, Team USA, and NBCUniversal builds on our successful collaboration from last summer, making the Olympic and Paralympic Games more personal and interactive for fans with the help of AI.”

Mark Marshall, Chairman, Global Advertising & Partnerships, NBCUniversal, continued, “For decades, Google has been a leading force in innovation and technology, and now they are bringing that pioneering spirit to the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Through this exciting new partnership, we will combine their cutting-edge technology with NBCU’s premium content and passionate community to deliver a world-class viewing experience for fans of all ages on all of our platforms.”

Google joins an esteemed roster of LA28 partners, including Starbucks, T-Mobile, Uber, Snowflake, Saatva, PennyMac, Allianz, AECOM, Cedars-Sinai, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Cisco, New Era, and Guild. Each partnership supports LA28’s goal of hosting a privately funded, sustainable Games that reflect the diversity and innovation of Los Angeles.

For NBCUniversal, which holds exclusive U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2032, the collaboration enhances its digital ecosystem through AI-assisted broadcasting and more immersive storytelling. For Team USA, Google’s technologies will strengthen athlete preparation, data management, and fan engagement in the buildup to 2028.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will mark the first time in history that Los Angeles hosts the Paralympic Games and the first U.S. Summer Olympics since 1996. With Google now joining as a founding partner, LA28 stands poised to deliver not only a celebration of sport but also a demonstration of how artificial intelligence and cloud computing can bring fans and athletes closer together than ever before.

This partnership underscores a broader shift in the role of technology within major sporting events, no longer a backdrop, but an active participant in shaping how the world experiences competition, culture, and connection on a global stage.
