La Liga views spike in India under Viacom18

An in-depth analysis revealed that the male to female ratio was also encouraging standing at 55:45.

Viewership in India for the Spanish La Liga is skyrocketing at a huge pace. The broadcasting rights for La Liga this season has been purchased by the media house Viacom18 who has reported a 3X rise in views as compared to last season.

Moreover, another encouraging factor is that 27% of the views are coming from NHSM areas (Non-Hindi Speaking). This includes most of the states in South India like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The passion for football is extremely high there and fans love the game. Kerala recorded an average of 41 minutes spent per person.

An in-depth analysis revealed that the male to female ratio was also encouraging standing at 55:45. This indicates that many female viewers are also taking a keen interest in the sport.

Viacom18 is steaming the La Liga matches on the Voot platform (available in both apps as well as the official website). Along with this, they are broadcasting important matches like the Madrid Derby and El Classico on the MTV channel as well.

Most of this analysis and research has been conducted by Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC). It revealed that 38% of viewers are from rural areas while 51% come from cities and urban areas. Moreover, the first matchday saw a spike of about 7X compared to last season.
