India’s sporting heroes and golf champions will take centre stage in Dubai for the first Stars Golf League (SGL), a high-stakes global team-format competition that brings together famous professionals, prominent women golfers, and worldwide celebrities under the desert heat.

The first event will take place from March 25 to 28, 2026, at the elite Els Club.

The SGL offers a one-of-a-kind combination of competitive golf and star power, with six elite franchises consisting of 24 legendary men golfers, six top women pros, and six worldwide celebrities. With a $1 million prize pool and hefty prizes for team owners, the tournament is certain to become a highlight of the international golf calendar.

Indian Stars Lead the Charge

India will have a significant representation at the competition. The Indian contingent is led by golfing great Jeev Milkha Singh, Diksha Dagar, and Tvesa Malik. They will be joined by cricket stars Kapil Dev and Yuvraj Singh, who are making waves in the world of celebrity golf.

They will compete with international legends like AB de Villiers, Ryan Giggs, Alan Shearer, and Ruud Gullit, ensuring a star-studded roster both on and off the course.

What’s in Store at SGL

The four-day tournament involves more than simply golf. It begins with a glamorous gala premiere (March 25), followed by a Pro-Am competition (March 26), lifestyle and clinic experiences (March 27), and a high-intensity league match on March 28.

Top players from the Legends Tour Order of Merit, including current No. 1 Scott Hend, will compete, providing high-quality competition.

A Visionary Sporting Format

The league is co-founded by Mahesh Bhupathi, Hemali Sharma, and Abbas Muni, the same trio that created the World Tennis League and World Padel League. SGL strives to change the way people experience golf by making it more accessible, glamorous, and engaging to a worldwide audience.

“Having competed at the highest level of sport, I know the power of bringing world-class talent together on one stage,” said Mahesh Bhupathi, SGL co-founder and 12-time Grand Slam champion in tennis. “The Stars Golf League does exactly that, uniting legends, champions, and icons in a way golf has never seen before. I believe fans will experience the same thrill and passion that we as athletes live for.”

Hemali Sharma, SGL Co-founder, said, “The Stars Golf League is not just another tournament; it is a celebration of sport at its highest level. By bringing together legendary golfers, leading women professionals, and global icons on one stage, we are creating a platform that is both competitive and unforgettable. Dubai has always been a home to innovation in sport, and with this new League, we aim to redefine how golf is experienced and enjoyed.”

Abbas Muni, co-founder and CEO, said, “The Stars Golf League is built on a simple vision, to create a global sporting experience that blends competition, camaraderie, and star power. I’ve always believed in building platforms that go beyond boundaries, and with SGL, we aim to make golf more inclusive, inspiring, and unforgettable for fans in the UAE, Middle East, and around the world.”
