Former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has teamed up with UK-based sports technology firm Kabuni to launch an AI-powered cricket coaching platform in India.

The partnership marks a major step in democratising access to world-class coaching by using artificial intelligence and large language model (LLM) technology to deliver personalised training experiences for players at every level.

Under the collaboration, Ganguly takes on the role of global brand ambassador as Kabuni officially begins its India operations. The company’s proprietary platform combines advanced motion analysis with real-time feedback, enabling players to improve their skills through video insights, voice guidance, and visual overlays. The technology will be accessible via a dedicated Kabuni device and a mobile app, enabling elite-level coaching for young players across the country.

Speaking about the partnership, Ganguly said, “Quality coaching allows children to learn better, faster, and live healthier lives. This level of coaching was only available for professionals, but now it is for everyone.

“Cricket is not a sport in India; it is a religion. Kabuni is the world’s first digital ecosystem that captures real-world play through sport, starting with cricket. It will bring play into learning and help every player discover the athlete within.”

Kabuni’s AI platform, developed with Cambridge Design Partnership, leverages computer vision and biomechanical analysis to precisely evaluate batting and bowling techniques. The platform’s mission is clear: bridge the accessibility gap in cricket coaching and provide every player, from aspiring junior to seasoned club cricketer, with data-driven guidance to accelerate their growth.

Highlighting the company’s long-term vision, Nimesh Patel, Founder and CEO of Kabuni, added, “India faces an amazing sporting future with the goals of the Fit India movement, the potential of the Commonwealth Games in 2030, and the Olympics in 2036. Kabuni pledges to inspire one billion Indians to move more, play together, and live healthier lives over the next decade.”

Patrick Badenoch, Co-Founder and CFO, shared, “Whether on the streets, schoolyards, nets or cricket pitches, Kabuni allows every player to record their game, receive personalised feedback and enjoy the thrill of progress.”

As part of its social commitment, Kabuni has pledged to dedicate 1% of its India revenue to grassroots sports development, reinforcing its vision of nurturing the next generation of athletes. Beyond cricket, the company also plans to extend its AI-driven coaching model to other sports such as tennis, golf, badminton, and table tennis.

Kabuni’s India entry arrives at a pivotal moment for the country’s booming sports technology sector, which is witnessing rapid adoption of performance analytics and digital training tools. With Ganguly’s leadership credibility and Kabuni’s technological innovation, the initiative aims to redefine how Indian athletes train, learn, and compete.

The partnership not only signals a technological leap for cricket but also reflects a broader transformation across the sports ecosystem—where AI is emerging as a vital catalyst for skill development, inclusion, and talent discovery.

Kabuni’s India rollout will take place in phases over the coming months, with details on device pricing, academy tie-ups, and grassroots activations expected to be unveiled soon.
