JioStar’s campaign film sets the tone for the women’s World Cup in India

The film is built around a simple but powerful idea: the Indian jersey is bigger than any single player, and it carries the same pride whether worn by men or women.

With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup just weeks away, JioStar has rolled out its official campaign film, “Jersey Wahi Toh Jazba Wahi,” capturing the spirit of a nation ready to rally behind the Women in Blue.

The film, crafted by BubbleWrap Films, is built around a simple but powerful idea: the Indian jersey is bigger than any single player, and it carries the same pride whether worn by men or women. It follows a young office-goer hesitant to wear a Smriti Mandhana jersey to work. As he moves through the city, he notices fans proudly donning jerseys of India’s women cricketers. The turning point comes when a lift operator, also sporting Mandhana’s No.18, reminds him: “Virat khelein ya Smriti, jeetega toh India hi na” (Whether it’s Virat or Smriti, India wins anyway). The protagonist sheds his hesitation and embraces the jersey, symbolizing a cultural shift in how fans view the game.

Speaking on the launch, Siddharth Sharma, Head, Viewership and Monetisation Initiative, Sports – JioStar, said, “The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 marks a defining moment for Indian cricket — a powerful opportunity to inspire a new generation of fans as the Women in Blue set out, on home soil, to chase a trophy that has so far eluded them.

“With the roar of a billion voices behind them and the advantage of playing in front of home crowds, Team India enters this campaign not just as hopefuls but as genuine contenders. This isn’t just about cricket — it’s about rewriting history. Our endeavour is to channel this moment into a campaign that not only supports our players but unites the country behind them. And what better way to do that than by invoking the deep pride that comes with the Indian jersey? This film captures the journey of the Indian fan — a coming-of-age story where we acknowledge that it’s time we take equal pride in every Indian jersey, whether it belongs to our men’s or women’s teams.”

The campaign underscores JioStar’s wider mission to elevate women’s cricket viewership and foster nationwide support for Team India as they pursue their first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title.

The 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with the tournament opener on September 30 in Guwahati, where India will take on Sri Lanka. All matches will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar.
