JioCinema to merge with Voot after IPL 2023 concludes: Reports

Earlier in March Viacom18 announced that IPL 2023 can enjoyed for free on JioCinema.

The Indian media conglomerate and digital rights holder of the Indian Premier League 2023-27, Viacom18 will be reportedly announcing the merger of JioCinema and Voot after the ongoing IPL 2023.

According to reports, which cited sources, the procedure has already been started on the back end. 

Prior to the competition, it was reported in January that the conglomerate will apparently also undergo a rebranding.

Earlier in March, the media broadcasting baron announced that the 2023 edition of this marquee Indian T20 league will be viewed free of cost on the JioCinema app for all users across different telecom networks.

Viacom18 or Viacom18 Media Private Limited is a Mumbai-based media that was founded in 2007, and it is currently running as a joint venture between, Network18 Group, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, and Paramount Global. Last year, in the media rights auction for the IPL, this Indian media company won the bid for the digital rights of the league, which amounted to INR 48,390 crore. The broadcasting entity has also acquired rights to various sporting tournaments and leagues across the world like FIFA World Cup 2022, SA20, Olympic Games Paris 2024, Women’s Premier League (WPL), Indian Super League (ISL), Premier Handball League (PHL), MotoGP, and many other marquee sporting events.
