World Athletics has announced Japan Airlines (JAL) as an official supplier for the highly anticipated World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 (WCH Tokyo 25).
The prestigious global sporting event is set to electrify the iconic National Stadium in Tokyo from September 13 to 21, 2025.
This significant partnership unites Japan’s premier airline with the world’s leading track and field competition, positioning JAL as a crucial supporter in the lead-up to and throughout the championships. The collaboration underscores JAL’s deep-rooted commitment to fostering global connections and inspiring the next generation through the unifying power of sport.
The return of the World Athletics Championships to Tokyo for the first time since 1991 marks a momentous occasion for both Japan and the global athletics community. As an official supplier, Japan Airlines will play an indispensable role in ensuring the seamless and efficient transportation of over 2,000 athletes from more than 200 countries, along with officials and other vital stakeholders, to the host city.
Beyond essential logistical support, this partnership highlights a shared vision focused on empowering young people. Japan Airlines will actively participate in initiatives specifically designed to offer the next generation invaluable opportunities to witness world-class athletic competition firsthand. This engagement aims to ignite their aspirations and encourage them to pursue their dreams on a global stage through the transformative power of sports.
Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and said, “We are delighted to have Japan Airlines sign on as an official supplier for our World Championships this summer, transporting athletes and key stakeholders to the vibrant city of Tokyo. As an organisation focused on innovation and pushing boundaries, Japan Airlines is a natural fit for World Athletics as we look to continue growing our ever-expanding group of partners and suppliers, with a sharp focus on those who share common goals and values with us, particularly the critical role athletes play in our sport, and who also work every day to reach new heights, speeds and distances.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mitsuko Tottori, President & Group CEO of Japan Airlines, commented, “We are honoured to be a part of World Athletics and welcome athletes and fans from around the world at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 in September. This global event showcases the spirit of pushing beyond limits, and we hope it inspires young people in Japan to take that first courageous step toward the world.
“By sharing the excitement of the genuine ultimate stage with young people, we aim to keep standing as a backbone of Japan’s youth wishing to challenge themselves on the world stage.”
The World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 is poised to be a spectacular showcase of athletic prowess, featuring over 2,000 elite athletes from more than 200 nations competing in 49 exhilarating track and field disciplines. This partnership with Japan Airlines further solidifies the groundwork for a successful and impactful championship, promising to leave a lasting legacy for both the sport of athletics and the host nation of Japan.
