ISRL Season 2 kicks off to a full house in Pune, showcasing India’s booming motorsport economy

Season 2 of the world’s first franchise-based supercross league, the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) kicked off with an exhilarating Round 1 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, with host team BB Racing emerging as the night’s overall champion.

The inaugural race weekend of the league provided nonstop thrills and fierce racing action, as thousands of spectators packed a stadium to see global and Indian riders compete under the lights.

The season opener saw BB Racing Team claim the top place in the team rankings, laying the groundwork for a highly competitive season ahead. Matt Moss (Australia) of BigRock Motorsports won the 450cc International Class on the Kawasaki, while Hunter Schlosser (USA) of BB Racing impressed the crowd in the 250cc International Class on the Honda, demonstrating impeccable control and speed. In the 250cc India-Asia Mix category, Gujarat Trailblazers’ Ben Hallgren (Thailand) took the chequered flag in front of a cheering crowd on his KTM.

Approximately around 8-10k enthusiastic spectators packed the stands and fan zones for the season opening, making it one of the greatest crowds ever seen at a racing event in the country. T he atmosphere mirrored both Supercross’ rising popularity and its expanding commercial presence. The sold-out arena, along with strong marketing activations, demonstrated the league’s increasing commercial potential and fan engagement power.

Hunter Schlosser, BB Racing said, “The Indian crowd is absolutely wild. The energy here is unmatched! For me, it’s amazing to see how far the league has come. They’re doing all the right things, bringing in world-class riders, building great tracks, and growing the sport the right way. It’s only a matter of time before this turns into something massive. Former World Champion Jordi Tixier , BB Racing, said, “It’s not easy to grow in this sport. It takes years of learning and refining your technique. What ISRL is doing for Indian riders is incredible because it is fast tracking the learning curve. The key is to learn to ride safe, keep improving, and build that base young. That’s how you create champions.”

The race weekend featured an amazing lineup of foreign stars and homegrown champions, including top riders from Australia, France, the United States, South Africa, and Thailand, as well as India’s emerging talents Rugved Barguje, Ikshan Shanbhag, and Prajwal Vishwanath. With over 36 foreign competitors from 21 nations competing this season, India has really become a testing ground for global Supercross potential.

Brands capitalised on the event’s large attendance with on-site experiences, digital marketing, and hospitality interactions, transforming the stadium into a dynamic marketplace of adrenaline and excitement.

The action now moves to Hyderabad for Round 2, which is set for December 6-7, 2025, followed by the grand finale in Kozhikode, Kerala, on December 20-21, 2025.
