ISL: Odisha FC set to open Digital Grassroots Academy

Indian Super League (ISL) side Odisha FC has launched a Digital Grassroots Academy that will help in finding and nurturing new talents in the country. This programme’s main motive is to help young footballers to improve their skills and to be educated about the fundamentals of the sport.

In order to make this programme accessible, Odisha FC has launched a digital academy that will help in connecting with people all over the country. The Bhubaneswar-based club’s vision is very clear in the development of new young talents. The link for registration is available on the club’s all digital platforms and the programme is scheduled to begin on June 20. Odisha FC’s Grassroots manager Suvam Das further explained this project and insisted that the well-structured series will benefit young players.

“This program is to make the best of the situation we are in. It’s a very well-structured series of weekly webinar’s which will be followed by simple drills by Odisha FC stars to challenge the participants and our youth coaches Sandeep Alhan and Kirti Kashyap will monitor these skills to help them improve.”

Raj Athwal, the President of the club has also revealed that this is a unique way to teach footballing skills to young footballers of the country. Athwal is expecting a strong response to the programme and hoping to get a good amount of enrollments when it begins on June 20. A good grassroots programme will eventually help the club and Indian football.

In May 2021, Odisha FC announced the arrival of World Cup and Champions League-winning Spanish football legend David Villa to spread their global football operations. The club was moved to Odisha after having the base camp in Delhi and formerly known as Delhi Dynamos. Odisha FC had a disappointing 2020/21 season as they finished at the bottom of the table, with just 12 points in 20 games.
