ISL 2020/21 Sponsors Watch: FC Goa

FC Goa has endured a tough start to the 2020/21 season of the Indian Super League (ISL). They are sitting fifth in the points table after four gameweeks. Things need to improve soon on the pitch if they want to make it to the playoff. In the buildup towards the new campaign, Goa did do some fine work off the pitch to strengthen their sponsorship portfolio.

Goa extended sponsorship deal with Kingfisher. The Beverage brand has been working together with the Goa-based football club for the fourth year in the running. For the principal sponsorship deal, Goa reached an agreement with IndiNews. The sports news portal is visible on the first team kit this season.

Virat Kohli owned football franchise will also have a new kit partner for this season. Six5Six will be manufacturing kits for the team this season. Six5Six is an Indian apparel brand, so it is an encouraging sign for local kit manufacturers.

For associate sponsor, Goa roped in PayTm First Games. Similar to the deal with IndiNews, PayTm First Games also features on the jersey. The agreement between the two parties is reportedly for only one season. The other associate sponsor for Goa is Oaksmith Gold India, becoming the second liquor brand on the club’s portfolio.

Along with IndiNews and PayTm First Games, Deltin will also feature on the first team kit. The Goa-based casino outlet has been working with the club since 2019. For the nutrition partner, FC Goa was able to strike a deal with Optimum Nutrition.

The Goa-based club collaborated with Navhind Times, Gwave, and Radio Indigo for media partnerships. Navhind will be the print media partner, while Radio Indigo will be the club’s official radio partner. Gwave will be the internet for the ISL club for this season.

In terms of marketing deals, FC Goa managed to strike an agreement with Zinque Advertising. Goa also started an elite membership initiative this season as they try to open a revenue avenue and also give fans an insight behind the scenes.

The biggest development for FC Goa before the start of the season was a strategic partnership with Bundesliga club Red Bull Leipzig. The German club will be working with FC Goa to develop young talent across the country and also explore the Indian market.
