It is a historic season for the Indian Super League franchise from Kolkata as there was a change in ownership. Atletico De Kolkata had merged with historic Indian club Mohun Bagan in the ISL. The club changed its name to ATK Mohun Bagan after the deal was completed in January 2020. However, they are no longer working with the Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
In terms of sponsors, ATK Mohun Bagan was quiet compared to teams such as Kerala Blasters and FC Goa. They did make some significant changes to their sponsorship portfolio. The Kolkata based franchise had new kit sponsors as they negotiated a contract for the 2020/21 season with Nivia.
ATK Mohun Bagan also brought a new principal sponsor on board before the new campaign. They signed a deal with SBOTOP.net that will allow the sports news portal to feature on training and first-team kit. SBOTOP.net will also get exposure in the stadium during ATK Mohun Bagan’s games.
After clinching two big deals, the Kolkata franchise focussed on getting three new associate sponsors. TV9 Kolkata was the local associate sponsor of the club. ATK Mohun Bagan also brought SRM MB and MP Birla Cements on board for associate sponsorship deals. The cement company also features on the first team kits. They also secured a deal with SIN Denim late in November.
Considering the popularity of Mohun Bagan across the country, the sponsors portfolio is going to get much better in the coming years. They are not only a commercially attractive club as fans in Kolkata adore Mohun Bagan and ATK, but a highly successful team on the pitch. They started the new season slowly, but the team has picked up form in the last three games.
