Star Sports claims inventory sell out for IPL 2020 ahead of schedule time

Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has revealed that they have already sold out 75% of the inventory available on IPL 2020. The official broadcasters have stated that they have already signed deals with 15 sponsors and 60 advertisers for the upcoming IPL season.

SportsMint has earlier reported that the co-presenting partners include; Dream11, the title sponsor for the 2020 IPL, online shopping platform- Amazon, Digital payment company- PhonePe and Edutech brand Byju’s. As mentioned earlier, each of the co-presenting sponsor contract is worth between ₹110-₹130 crores each.

Interestingly, PhonePe competitor brand Paytm, has a central contract with IPL as the ‘Umpires Official Partner’ till the end of 2022 season. Furthermore, Paytm is also the title sponsor for BCCI home series till the end of 2023. Meanwhile, Edutech brand- Unacademy, has a central contract with IPL as their associate sponsor.

The Associate broadcast partners includes brands like; Sunfeast, Polycab, Coca Cola, Mondelez-Cadbury Dairy milk, Kamla Pasand, Rummycircle and McDowell’s. The price for each Associate sponsors slot is expected to be in the range of ₹60-₹80 crores. 

Other than this, Star India has also roped in advertisers like Colgate, MyTeam11, Hyundai, Glaxo Smith Kline, Indigo Paints and MPL. Reports suggest that, the amount raised through sponsorship for the IPL 2020 broadcast is around ₹1600 crores till now.

The IPL broadcasters have also predicted a massive increase in viewership of the upcoming tournament. It is expected to deliver a record audience of 550Mn+ in India alone.
