Vikram Solar has renewed its partnership with the Indian Premier League franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, for IPL 2026, extending its sustainability-led Sixes for Solar campaign that links cricketing milestones with real-world clean energy adoption.

The renewal reinforces the solar manufacturer’s positioning as a purpose-driven brand while underlining the increasing role of ESG-focused collaborations in India’s sports sponsorship landscape.

The Sixes for Solar initiative converts on-field performance into measurable environmental impact, with Vikram Solar supporting rooftop solar installations for households linked to sixes struck by KKR players during the season.

By connecting one of cricket’s most exciting moments with renewable energy adoption, the campaign aims to simplify the conversation around solar power and position it as an accessible solution for everyday households.

The initiative integrates fan participation as a core component, with audiences playing a role in identifying beneficiary households through digital engagement platforms. The approach combines sport, storytelling, and sustainability to drive awareness around decentralised clean energy, leveraging the IPL’s scale to create behavioural influence beyond the sporting arena.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said, “Last year, ‘Sixes for Solar’ was about starting a conversation around what solar energy could mean for ordinary households. This year, we want to go further: every six should translate into a rooftop solarised, a generator switched off, and a power cut that doesn’t happen. Cricket reaches every corner of this country. If we can use that energy to make clean power feel less like a distant promise and more like something already underway, that is exactly where we want to be.”

Venky Mysore, CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, added, “Cricket has always been about more than just the game for us at KKR; it’s about creating impact beyond the boundaries. As we continue our partnership with Vikram Solar for the second year, ‘Sixes for Solar’ is a strong example of that shared vision, where every six contributes to powering homes and creating meaningful change.”

As part of the campaign’s second phase, Vikram Solar has released a digital film featuring KKR players Rinku Singh, Rachin Ravindra, and Finn Allen. The film depicts everyday scenarios such as power outages, rising electricity costs, and dependence on diesel generators, presenting rooftop solar as a practical and long-term energy alternative for households.

The renewed partnership builds on Vikram Solar’s role as KKR’s clean energy advocate and reflects a broader evolution in sports marketing, where brands are increasingly aligning with purpose-led narratives that extend beyond visibility to measurable impact. Performance-linked social responsibility campaigns are emerging as a strategic tool for companies seeking deeper engagement with fans while demonstrating real-world outcomes.

The initiative also aligns with India’s wider energy transition priorities, where distributed solar infrastructure is expected to play a key role in strengthening energy access and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By translating six-hitting achievements into solar adoption, the campaign converts moments of sporting celebration into tangible sustainability outcomes.

With IPL 2026 underway, Vikram Solar joins a portfolio of commercial partners associated with the Knight Riders this season, including AI+ Smartphones, BKT Tyres, Veedol, HDFC Life, Google Pay, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Vida (Hero MotoCorp), Disha Eye Hospitals, and SIX5SIX..

KKR will be in action against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, as the franchise looks to register its first win of the IPL 2026 season following an opening defeat to Mumbai Indians.

As the tournament progresses, Sixes for Solar is expected to further integrate digital storytelling, fan participation, and community-led engagement, highlighting the growing convergence of sport, sustainability, and purpose-driven partnerships within the IPL ecosystem.
