The list of players who have been retained and released by the 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) teams has been made official ahead of the mini auction scheduled for next month.
Fans were taken aback when Matheesha Pathirana was released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Last season, Pathirana had a dismal season, taking just 13 wickets while conceding runs at a rate of more than 10 per over. For INR 11 crore, Mayank Yadav, who lit up the stage with a speed of 156.7 kmph in the IPL 2023, has been retained. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) created headlines when they surprisingly released Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 23.75 crore), their prior high-profile acquisitions. It’s obvious that both teams want to get Cameron Green, so it will be an intense battle to watch.
Delhi Capitals (DC) made a significant decision to let go of Faf du Plessis, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) added to the surprises by saying goodbye to Glenn Maxwell. The build-up to the auction has become even more thrilling since such well-known names were let go.
All-rounder Liam Livingstone, who was released due to his subpar performance last year, is the biggest name on Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s (RCB) exclusion list. Lungi Ngidi, a pacer from South Africa, was another elite player released from the team. Eight players were released by RCB prior to the auction. Along with keeping overseas stars Shimron Hetmyer, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Jofra Archer, Kwena Maphaka, and Nandre Burger, Rajasthan Royals (RR) also made significant moves to bolster their roster, adding Donovan Ferreira, Sam Curran, and Ravindra Jadeja.
From now until the IPL 2026 mini auction begins, the 10 teams may exchange the released players.
