The Indian Premier League (IPL) side, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Visit Maldives have unveiled an official partnership.
As per the pact, Visit Maldives has been named the official tourist destination partner of the former IPL champions for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich Indian league.
The pact has kicked off the Visit Maldives’ inaugural venture in India, reinforcing the Maldives’ pursuit of making its presence robust in one of its most vital source markets. Cricket consists of an audience with a sizeable disposable income, which makes this deal significant to enhance Maldives’ brand among travellers from India.
“This partnership with Mumbai Indians is a milestone moment for us,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and MD of Visit Maldives.
“Cricket holds a special place in the hearts of millions in India, the Maldives, and beyond. By aligning with one of the most iconic Indian cricket teams, we are confident that we can inspire more Indian travellers to choose the Maldives as their preferred holiday destination,” said Shiuree.
A Mumbai Indians spokesperson echoed Shiuree, “Cricket and holidays are all about creating memories that last a lifetime. We look forward to the partnership with Visit Maldives and showcase the destination to our global fans across the world.”
As per the release, via this association, Visit Maldives hopes the arrangement will help it attain its goal for 2025 to attract 2,00,000 Indian tourists. In addition, the release also reflected that this partnership with the former IPL champions will also elevate Maldives’ reputation as a leading tourist destination for Indian travellers.
Earlier this month, Visit Maldives also inked a deal with the Premier League (PL) giants, Liverpool FC (LFC).
Before this announcement, MI also partnered with Rapoo India and Lattafa Fragrance for the 2025 season.
