IPL 2025 SRH vs GT: Siraj, Gill star as GT clinch victory in Hyderabad

With this win, GT have clinched their third win of the season and are now second in the points tally.

In the 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans (GT) beat SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

GT won the toss and opted to field first. It was a brave decision, given they were playing against a monstrous SRH side on their home turf. However, the visiting team’s bowlers responded to the occasion and delivered a clinical performance, reducing SRH to a mere 152/8 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj was the star, storming in at breakneck speed and dismissing both SRH openers cheaply. Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna, too, were outstanding, scooping up key wickets while maintaining tight control and strangling SRH’s batters with their economical performances.

In the chase, in-form batter Sai Sudharsan was dismissed cheaply, but captain Shubman Gill (61*) took command, reading the pitch beautifully and ensuring GT crossed the finish line comfortably. The skipper, with maturity and poise, struck nine exquisite boundaries and avoided taking any excessive risks, making the chase appear far easier than expected. He also received vital assistance from Washington Sundar (49), as the two formed a crucial 90-run partnership for the third wicket. As the game approached its conclusion, impact player Sherfane Rutherford (35*) unleashed a barrage of boundaries, including six fours and a six, snatching the game away from SRH in just 16.4 overs and ensuring GT’s overwhelming triumph.

SRH, while batting first, lost too many wickets upfront. The likes of Ishan Kishan (17), Nitish Kumar Reddy (31), Heinrich Klaasen (27) and Aniket Verma (18) got some runs, but a total of 152 on board in Hyderabad was never going to be enough.

With the ball for GT, Siraj was the top performer as he plucked four wickets and just gave away 17 runs. Furthermore, Krishna and Kishor also scalped two wickets each.

While defending, Mohammad Shami grabbed two wickets, while one wicket was taken by Pat Cummins

Siraj was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling show. With this win, GT have clinched their third win of the season and are now second in the points tally.

Scorecard:

SunRisers Hyderabad: 152/8, Overs 20, Nitish Reddy 31, Mohammed Siraj 4/17

Gujarat Titans: 153/3, Overs 16.4, Shubman Gill 61*, Mohammad Shami 2/28
