The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is set to host a highly anticipated encounter tonight at 7:30 PM IST as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Despite a strong start to the season with two away victories, placing them at the top of the points table, RCB face a potentially tricky challenge as they return to their home ground. Their win record at the Chinnaswamy Stadium dips below 50%, a statistic that Gujarat Titans will be keen to exploit.

GT arrive in Bengaluru riding high on the momentum of their recent win. While their success has been significantly fueled by their top three batsmen, much like RCB, they boast a well-rounded squad on paper. Their bowling unit is a notable strength, although they will be hoping for more consistent contributions from other players to reach their full potential.

RCB’s batting lineup has been firing on all cylinders, showcasing impressive firepower in the powerplay courtesy of Phil Salt, followed by strong spin-hitting in the middle overs and a powerful finisher in Tim David. Their bowling unit has also performed admirably, setting up an intriguing battle against Gujarat’s in-form top order. A key matchup to watch will be Josh Hazlewood‘s hard lengths against the likes of Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan, who have historically fared well against that bowling style. Conversely, Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds a strong record against both Buttler and Gill, having dismissed them multiple times in the past. Adding to the narrative, Virat Kohli‘s remarkable record at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he has amassed 3456 runs – the most by any player at a single T20 venue – and his consistent performances against the Titans, including three fifties and a century in five innings, will be a significant factor for the home side.

For Gujarat Titans, their batting has been anchored by their top three, who have consistently delivered, enabling them to post a 200+ score in one game and come close in another. However, their spinners might face a stern test on the Chinnaswamy pitch, known to be unforgiving to slow bowlers, against RCB’s strong batting lineup. The contest between GT’s Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore against RCB’s Rajat Patidar, renowned for his spin-hitting prowess, promises to be a captivating mini-battle. Notably, Sai Sudharsan has been in exceptional form, registering five fifty-plus scores in his last six IPL innings.

Adding an interesting layer to this encounter is the number of players who will be facing their former franchise. Mohammed Siraj, affectionately known as ‘Miyaan’ or ‘DSP’ by RCB fans and their joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024, now represents Gujarat Titans. Additionally, Anuj Rawat, Sherfane Rutherford, and Mahipal Lomror, all former RCB players, will be lining up against their old team for the first time since their departure.

Head-to-Head:

Historically, the head-to-head record between these two teams stands at three wins for RCB and two wins for Gujarat Titans in their five previous IPL encounters, setting the stage for another potentially close and exciting contest.
