In the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) tomorrow, i.e., April 20, at 3:30 PM at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
The home side enters their next match with enthusiasm after defeating RCB in Bangalore yesterday. The success was aided by the rising skill of Priyansh Arya and the calm outing of Nehal Wadhera. While chasing an easy target of 96, PBKS suffered a few blows, but it was Wadhera who took the responsibility to take the game home with an undefeated 33 off 19 balls. On the bowling front, Arshdeep Singh remains a rock for PBKS, while Yuzvendra Chahal heads the spin department. Marco Jansen and Harpreet Brar also provide pace and variation to PBKS’ assault. Their versatility was on full display in their last defensive masterpiece against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), when they bowled out the opposition for only 111 runs, demonstrating their tactical precision and bowling depth.
RCB will be aiming to bounce back, and much of that burden lies on the shoulders of Virat Kohli, whose steadiness at the top is essential. Phil Salt‘s aggressive style complements him and provides the spark required to set the tone early on. Rajat Patidar is also in top form, while Tim David, who recently scored his first IPL half-century against PBKS, offers firepower in the death overs. Josh Hazlewood bowled well on Friday, taking three wickets, nevertheless, Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to lead the pace attack. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma, the tricky combo, help to strengthen the spin department. However, RCB’s contrasting fortunes, four victories on the road and three losses at home, add an added layer of questionable, tricky positivity as they prepare to play PBKS in Mullanpur.
Head-to-Head:
The record is somewhat in favour of Punjab Kings, who have 18 wins to RCB’s 16. Even the game at M Chinnaswamy will provide more confidence to PBKS side, while RCB will gain confidence from its record of winning away games.
