In the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
PBKS won the toss and opted to field first. On a particular batting track in Jaipur, the PBKS bowlers did a top job as they managed to restrict MI for just 184/7, a good 15-20 runs short, as mentioned by Suryakumar Yadav in the mid innings break. The likes of Arshdeep Singh, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Marco Jansen did claimed two wickets, whereas Harpreet Brar also secured a wicket.
In the chase, the second wicket partnership between Priyansh Arya ((62) and Josh Inglis (73) did the job as they scored 109-runs together. In his inning, Arya began with some fireworks as he hammered nine fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Inglis scored nine fours and three sixes. The batter even hammered Bumrah for boundaries, which totally took away the game from the five-time champions. Towards the end, Shreyas Iyer (26*) did the formality as he won the game in just 18.3 overs.
For MI with the bat, Ryan Rickelton (27) and Rohit Sharma (24) were decent at the start, while Suryakumar Yadav (57) was the top performer for them. SKY hammered six fours and two sixes, which took MI to a decent total. Overall, MI couldn’t judge the pitch at the start, which hurt them in the end.
For MI with the ball, Mitchell Santner grabbed two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah also took one wicket.
With this win, PBKS have guaranteed their place in the Qualifier 1 match on May 29.
