LSG won the toss and chose to field, sending the home team PBKS in to bat first. Despite an early setback when Priyansh Arya left cheaply, it was Prabhsimran Singh‘s night to shine. The opener had a booming innings, hitting 91 off 48 balls with a blazing strike rate of 189.58. His knock included six fours and seven soaring sixes, nonetheless, he fell agonisingly short of a century just before hitting the mark. Josh Inglis (30), Shreyas Iyer (45), and Nehal Wadhera (16) all made significant contributions in the middle overs, keeping the scoreboard ticking and forming key partnerships with Prabhsimran to create the groundwork for a huge total. Shashank Singh had a fantastic cameo in the death overs, hitting an unbeaten 33 off only 15 balls at a strike rate of 220. Marcus Stoinis finished with a fast 15* off 5 balls (SR 300). Punjab Kings scored a magnificent 236/5 in 20 overs.
In the chase, LSG kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, with no batter surviving after getting the start. Rishabh Pant (18) hit a few boundaries, while David Miller (11) also looked in shape. It was Ayush Badoni (74), who had an excellent outing, hitting five fours and five sixes. The batter only got some help from the other end from Abdul Samad (45), who also struck two fours and four sixes. The unit could only reach 199/7 in 20 overs.
While defending the score, Arshdeep Singh delivered a marvellous show as he plucked three wickets. Two wickets were also taken by Azmatullah Omarzai, while one each was grabbed by Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal.
For LSG with the ball, two wickets each were scalped by Akash Maharaj Singh and Digvesh Rathi. Prince Yadav also managed to claim one wicket.
With this win, PBKS now have 15 points and are positioned second in the points tally.
