In the 66th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
After winning the toss and choosing to field first, DC got off to a good start with the ball, striking twice in the power play. Mustafizur Rahman led the attack admirably, and Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav also played important roles throughout the innings. Despite a late attack from Marcus Stoinis, who took on Mohit Sharma in the penultimate over, the batting side fell short of a competitive score.
Chasing 207, DC got off to a flying start courtesy of openers KL Rahul (35) and Faf du Plessis (23), who put on an impressive 55-run stand for the opening wicket. Karun Nair then took control of the middle overs with a composed 44, keeping the momentum alive. Sediqullah Atal took advantage of his opportunity, scoring 22 runs. However, Sameer Rizvi was the night’s standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 58 off just 25 balls for his maiden IPL half-century, at an unbelievable strike rate of 232. The chase was far from easy, and Rizvi’s heroics would have been in vain without assistance from the other end. Tristan Stubbs (18*) provided crucial support, leading DC to victory with three balls remaining.
While batting first, Prabhsimran Singh (28) was the opener to get some runs at the start, followed by Josh Inglis’ (32) contribution in the middle overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (53) was once again at his very best as he delivered a half-century at a strike rate of 155.88. Marcus Stoinis‘ (44*) blistering knock in the end helped PBKS reach 206/8 in 20 overs.
For DC with the ball, Rahman did his best tonight as he plucked three wickets. With him, two wickets each were also grabbed by Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav. Mukesh Kumar also took one wicket.
For PBKS, Harpreet Brar took two wickets, while one wicket each was taken by Marco Jansen and Praveen Dubey.
With this win, DC end their season with a win.
