In the 70th and last league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) today, May 27, at 7:30 PM at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

RCB will only need to win their last league match against LSG to secure 19 points, which is sufficient to guarantee a ticket in Qualifier 1, regardless of whether they finish first or second in the table. RCB’s four-match winning streak was snapped at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a loss that, although not disastrous, shook some momentum. More troubling was the injury to hard-hitting middle-order hitter Tim David, who injured himself while fielding in the deep and is unlikely to play in today’s key game. On the plus side, RCB will be boosted by the return of ace fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. After staying in Australia to finish his shoulder recovery, Hazlewood has returned to the squad and will be ready for the final league game, delivering a much-needed boost to RCB’s bowling arsenal.

If LSG upset RCB on Tuesday, RCB would drop to third place, setting up an Eliminator clash, just like last season, when they were eliminated by Rajasthan Royals (RR). Surprisingly it was LSG who began to shake up the standings earlier, defeating the table-toppers, Gujarat Titans (GT), owing to Mitchell Marsh‘s match-winning century. LSG’s recent performance has lots of pros. Nicholas Pooran has regained his groove following a mid-season slump, providing stability to the middle order. Skipper Rishabh Pant also got some runs in the last game, while Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni have been showcasing brilliant talent. Meanwhile, the tall 6’4″ fast bowler Will O’Rourke has made an excellent impression since replacing the injured Mayank Yadav, taking four wickets in only two games.
