In the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will play Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, tomorrow, April 8, at 3:30 PM IST.
After a difficult start to the season, the Knights have rediscovered their rhythm in the fourth game, defeating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs at home. The openers haven’t been in touch, but skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi know how to keep things calm, along with taking the scorecard ahead. The batting team feels much stronger now that Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh are back among the runs. Vaibhav Arora scalped three wickets and put SRH under strain early on, while Varun Chakaravarthy added three of his own to put an end to the chase. Sunil Narine and Varun could once again make the difference—they’re difficult to beat on this slow field. Add in Andre Russell and Harshit Rana, who both know how to handle the surface, and KKR appear to be in good form.
LSG have had a mixed bag of results in IPL 2025 so far, with two wins and two losses. Mitchell Marsh has been in good touch, while Aiden Markram has found his rhythm with the bat. Nicholas Pooran has remained the team’s most consistent performer over the last two seasons. However, skipper Rishabh Pant’s ongoing struggle with the bat is a major concern, managing just 19 runs in four games, adding pressure on the rest of the lineup. David Miller hasn’t been able to ease the burden either. On a positive note, Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad have delivered a few crucial cameos. With the ball, Shardul Thakur has been impressive, taking seven wickets in three matches. Ravi Bishnoi’s figures, however, have been disappointing. The standout performer has been Digvesh Singh Rathi, who’s made a strong impact with six wickets and an impressive economy rate of 7.62 in four games.
