In the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 58 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
RR won the toss and asked GT to bat first. On a pitch that was solid to bat on, Sai Sudharsan (82) did not disappoint. The in-form southpaw opener once again set the tone for the home side as he smashed another fifty. The batter hit eight fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 154.72. Jos Buttler (36) and Shahrukh Khan (36) also contributed valuable runs, however, it was cameos from Rahul Tewatia (24*) and Rashid Khan (12), which helped the side reach 217/6 in 20 overs.
In the chase, Sanju Samson (41) gave the visitors a top start, while Riyan Parag (26) also looked solid against quality GT bowlers. However, RR kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, which hampered their chances. Shimron Hetmyer (52) was the lone warrior as he smacked four fours and three sixes. Hetmyer tried his best but got out just after scoring his fifty.
While defending, Prasidh Krishna bagged three wickets, whereas the likes of Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan got two wickets. One wicket each was also picked up by Mohammed Siraj, Arshad Khan and Kulwant Khejroliya.
For RR with the ball, Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana scalped two wickets each. One wicket each was also taken by Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma.
Sai Sudharsan was named Player of the Match for his sublime knock. With this win, GT are now first on the points table with eight points.
