In the 67th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by a massive 83 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
CSK won the toss and decided to bat first. With pride at stake, CSK batters approached the game with aggressive intent. Ayush Mhatre (34) batted at a strike rate of 200, while Devon Conway (52) scored a half-century with six fours and two sixes. Urvil Patel (37), Shivam Dube (17), and Ravindra Jadeja (21*) all contributed crucial runs in the middle overs, but Dewald Brevis (57) stole the show, taking on every bowler and hitting a fifty in just 19 balls. The team scored an impressive 230/5 in 20 overs.
In the chase, GT choked yet again, with Shubman Gill (13) and Jos Buttler (5) getting back to the pavilion in just 3.4 overs. Sai Sudharsan (41) continued his fine form but failed to play throughout the innings. The likes of Shahrukh Khan (19), Rahul Tewatia (14), and Rashid Khan (12) also added a few runs, while Arshad Khan (20) looked promising in his shot-making ability. The side bundled for just 147 in 18.3.
For CSK with the ball, Noor Ahmad once again showcased his skills as he took three wickets. Along with him, Anshul Kamboj also grabbed three wickets and just gave away 13 runs. Jadeja also took two wickets, while one wicket each was picked up by Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed.
Twice in two games, GT have given away 230-plus runs. Tonight too, they only managed to scalp five wickets, of which Prasidh Krishna grabbed two, while one each was taken by Sai Kishor, Rashid Khan and Shahrukh Khan.
With this win, CSK end their campaign with eight points and finish last for the first time ever in the rankings.
