In the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tonight, i.e., April 25, at 7:30 PM IST, at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.
CSK, captained by MS Dhoni, are currently at the bottom of the points standings. So far, the Super Kings have won only two of their eight matches. Their season has been spotty, and as playoff aspirations fade, this game becomes a must-win. Rachin Ravindra has been unable to anchor the innings, while youngster Ayush Mhatre is projected to perform well. In the middle overs, Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar are scoring runs but are not able to perform at a modern strike rate. MS Dhoni, who will be playing his 400th T20 game today, will be essential with both gloves and bat. In terms of bowling, Matheesha Pathirana, along with the spin twins, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, need to improve their consistency. However, Noor Ahmad has been an exceptional talent.
SRH, another struggling squad this season, have also only won two out of their eight matches. The Sunrisers, led by Pat Cummins, are ninth in the points table. Their top order, notably the dynamic combo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, has been inconsistent in terms of explosive beginnings. SRH, the team that used to score 200 for pleasure, has struggled this season, despite adding the strength of Ishan Kishan to the batting. Heinrich Klaasen‘s form and Pat Cummins‘ captaincy and pace bowling, have provided balance to the group. SRH will be confident in defeating CSK in their stronghold, especially if their heavy hitters can neutralise the spinners.

Both teams have faced each other 21 times in the IPL, of which CSK have won 15 whereas SRH have come out victorious on six occasions.
