IPL 2025 CSK vs RCB: Patidar, Hazlewood masterclass makes it two in two for RCB

Skipper Patidar was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding batting.

In the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. 

CSK won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. A top-notch batting exhibition was on display in Chepauk as all the RCB batters contributed good runs. Phil Salt (32) and Virat Kohli (31) yet again powered the visitors in the powerplay, and later on, Devdutt Padikkal (27) also contributed a few runs. It was skipper Rajat Patidar (51), who hammered a fabulous half-century off 30 balls, which helped the side reach over over-par score of 196 runs. The likes of Tim David (22), Jitesh Sharma also smashed a few runs at the backend of the innings.

In the chase, only Rachin Ravindra (41) was looking in shape as he batted almost 12 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (25) and Shivam Dube (19) also contributed runs, but it was not enough. The crowd in the stands did not go away disappointed as they got to witness MS Dhoni‘s (30) blistering shots in the end. 

While defending, Josh Hazlewood scalped three wickets, while two wickets each were also grabbed by Yash Dayal, and Liam Livingstone. Making his comeback into RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar also got one wicket. 

In the first inning with the ball, Noor Ahmad bagged three wickets. Two wickets each were taken by Matheesha Pathirana, while one wicket each was also taken by Khaleel Ahmed and Ravichandran Ashwin

Skipper Patidar was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding batting. With this win, RCB have made it two out of two in this season.
