SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first. The innings started on a high note for the five-time IPL winners as both the openers, Ishan Kishan (38) and Rohit Sharma (28), began hamming SRH bowlers from the word go. Both the batters scored 41 runs for the first wicket partnership. Along with them, Cameron Green (64) also hammered a humongous half-century which included six fours and two sixes. Towards the end, the hometown cricketer Tilak Verma (37) along with Tim David (16) contributed a few valuable runs to take MI to a total of 192/5.
In the chase, Mayank Agarwal (48) started off well for the home team as he scored some important runs at the top. Captain Aiden Markram (22) also got a few runs under his belt but it was just not enough. Furthermore, Heinrich Klassen (36) also tried his best but couldn’t bat deep in the innings. In the end, the 2016 IPL winners got bowled out for just 178 runs.
