In the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will square off with Mumbai Indians (MI) tonight i.e. Sunday, March 2 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore at 7:30 PM IST.
RCB will be playing in Bangalore for the first time since the 2019 edition and will look to mark a thumping return at their home ground by winning the first fixture tonight. RCB have been one of the most consistent teams as they are the only side to have qualified for the playoffs in the past three seasons. In 2022, the Faf du Plessis-led team fumbled in the second qualifier against Rajasthan Royals (RR). With the home and away games returning to IPL, the Bangalore franchise will look to change its fortune and conclude its IPL trophy drought.
On the other hand, the most successful team of the Indian marquee T20 competition went through a couple of rough seasons as they failed to qualify for the playoffs. Even before the tournament, the team suffered a mighty blow in its bowling department. With a stable batting line-up, MI will count on its top order and especially Rohit Sharma to step up as a batter to turn the tables in the ongoing season. With some fruitful additions to the franchise, Rohit and his men will definitely look forward towards clinching the sixth title.
Head-to-head:
MI lead the head-to-head competition between the two teams. Both sides played against each other 30 times, with Mumbai winning 17 fixtures and losing 13.
