IPL 2023 RCB vs CSK: Conway, Deshpande shine in high-scoring encounter

Following this win, CSK have won their third game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.

In the 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

RCB won the toss and opted to field first. It started fabulously for RCB as Devon Conway (83) scored a magnificent half-century which included six fours and six sixes. The Kiwi batter looked in great touch throughout the inning as he hammered every bowler all around the park. Furthermore, Ajinkya Rahane (37) also continued his fine form and scored some quick runs. Towards the end, Shivam Dube (52) also struck quick-fire runs at a strike rate of over 190 which consisted of two fours and five sixes. Ambati Rayudu (14), Moen Ali (19) and Ravindra Jadeja (10) also contributed valuable runs which took CSK to a massive total of 226/6 in 20 overs.

In the chase, RCB had an electrifying start as their skipper Faf du Plessis (62) smashed another half-century of the season. Along with him, Glenn Maxwell (76) also was on song as he too managed to struck a half-century. Both the batters scored 136 together for the third wicket partnership. While runs were getting scored, wickets also started to fall from the other which eventually led to RCB’s downfall in the match.

With the ball, while defending, Tushar Deshpande plucked three wickets in his quota of four overs. Two wickets were also picked by Matheesha Pathirana while one wicket each was grabbed by Akash Singh, Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali grabbed one wicket each.

All the bowlers who bowled for RCB got one wicket each. The list includes Mohammad Siraj, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Glenn Maxwell,  Wayne ParnellWanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel.

Devon Conway was adjudged Player of the Match for his electrifying batting performance. Following this win, CSK have won their third game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.
