IPL 2023 PBKS vs GT: Shubman Gill’s fifty provides win for GT

Following this win, GT have won their third game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.

In the 18th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked Punjab Kings to bat first. The decision turned out accurate for the defending champions as they restricted PBKS to just 153 runs. Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan bowled well to keep the PBKS batters silent.

While chasing, Shubman Gill (67) once again showcased his fine form and registered a half-century. The home town cricketer, in his inning, scored seven fours and one six which was enough to secure the win for GT. Along with Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (30) also contributed runs at the start and was mostly nudging runs to give Gill the strike back. Later on, Sai Sudharsan‘s (19) and David Miller‘s (17*) knock took away the game from the home side with a ball to spare.

It was a rough start for PBKS with the bat as both the openers failed to deliver. Matthew Short (36) did his best as he hit six fours and one six. Furthermore, Bhanuka Rajapaksa (20), Jitesh Sharma (25), Sam Curran (22) and Shahrukh Khan (22) also contributed a few runs but it was not enough on a such batting track.

While defending with the ball, Mohit Sharma took two wickets and just gave away 18 runs. Along with him, Mohammad Shami, Joshua Little, Alzarri Joseph and Rashid Khan also plucked one wicket each.

For PBKS with the ball, one wicket each was grabbed by Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh.

Mohit Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match for his amazing bowling spell. Following this win, GT have won their third game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.
