IPL 2023 PBKS vs DC: Rossouw carnage at Dharamshala secures two points for DC

Following this win, DC won their fifth game of the season and now have 10 points on the tally.

In the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 15 runs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

PBKS won the toss and asked DC to bat first. Both the opening batters, David Warner (46) and Prithvi Shaw (54) gave the visitors a flying start in the powerplay. While Warner hit five fours and two sixes, Shaw smashed seven fours and one six. It was a comeback inning for the Mumbai-born batter as he scored a fifty after dry knocks back to back. Both the batters stitched 94 runs for the first wicket partnership. Post skipper’s wicket, Rilee Rossouw (82) arrived at the crease with the same intentions as both the openers. While playing at the strike rate of over 220, the South African batter hit six fours and six sixes to take PBKS to a mammoth total of 213 runs. Towards the end, Philip Salt (26) also contributed some quick-fire runs.

In the chase, Atharva Taide (55) and Liam Livingstone (94) were the only two batters who looked in good shape. While Livingstone tried his best till the end, Taide got retired hurt in the 15th over itself. The Englishman struck five fours and nine gigantic sixes which helped PBKS to at least finish their innings on a decent note. The Punjab-based side only managed to reach 198 runs in their 20 overs.

While defending, two wickets each were taken by Anrich Nortje and Ishant Sharma. Along with them, Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel also claimed one wicket each.

For PBKS, Sam Curran was the only bowler to pick two wickets.

Rilee Rossouw was adjudged Player of the Match for his electrifying batting show. Following this win, DC won their fifth game of the season and now have 10 points on the tally.
