IPL 2023 MI vs PBKS: Match Preview, head-to-head, and streaming details

MI have an edge over PBKS in the head-to-head competition.

In the 31st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) will be facing off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai tonight, i.e. Saturday, April 22.

The most successful franchise of the league has now started looking very dangerous, and showing everyone why they are the most dangerous team in the history of the tournament. The team have won three games in a row, the latest against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), neutralising them in Hyderabad. The batting unit has now started to channelise itself in a good time. Batters like Ishan Kishan, captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and the Australian all-rounder, Cameron Green have been looking in great touch in these last three games. Both Tilak and Green were the major catalysts in the win against SRH.

About the MI’s bowling attack, Jason Behrendorff and newly included Arjun Tendulkar have been the shining spots for the outfit, also including the support coming from Riley Meredith, Hrithik Shokeen, Green as well as the veteran leg spinner, Piyush Chawla.

The unit from India’s commercial capital will be looking forward to continuing its formidable performance in this upcoming match, and want to strengthen the contention for the knockouts. They are currently standing in the sixth position with six points under their belt in their five matches.

On the other hand, Punjab has been running an inconsistent show this season. They were beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 24 runs on their home turf in Mohali. The skipper, Shikhar Dhawan who was absent from the last two games has affected the dynamics of the PBKS batting lineup, which made it very fragile. Another big surprise in their last game was benching Sikandar Raza, who was the player of the match in the encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The likes of Matthew Short, Liam Livingstone, Harpreet Singh, and Shahrukh Khan will need to show their batting prowess in this clash, to help the team to make a comeback. Although, the bowling is still looking formidable with the presence of Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar, Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar. Currently, the Punjab-based unit is standing in the seventh position on the points table.

MI have an edge over PBKS in the head-to-head competition. The two sides played 29 games against each other, Mumbai won 15 while Punjab emerged victorious on 14 occasions.
