IPL 2023 KKR vs LSG: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

LSG won by 75 runs in their previous match which was played last season.

In the 68th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata tonight i.e. Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 PM IST.

KKR have won six of their thirteen games this season, placing them seventh on the points standings with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.256. After a few strings of single-handed wins, KKR discovered that one-man shows could not carry them to the title. The two-time IPL winners ultimately received what they wanted i.e. consistency in their batting, with Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh leading the charge, and the abilities of Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer up top, who have certainly given them a rocking start to their innings. Furthermore, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Andre Russell need to be more consistent. With the ball, however, KKR regained its lost lustre, with their spinners outperforming Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their own den last weekend. Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine and Suyash Sharma are clinical but will need a bit of help from pacers tonight to take them to victory.

LSG, on the other hand, have won 7 of their 13 games this season and are third on the points table with 15 points and a net run rate of +0.304. The Lucknow-based team has had a difficult time with injuries and has won some close games. They’ve had a dreadfully out-of-form skipper KL Rahul opening for them, who was then injured and replaced. Moreover, they haven’t had much consistency in their starting lineup. Nonetheless, players have stepped up when needed, most recently Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran in the batting department, gently excavating wins from their ground. Their bowling hasn’t been spectacular, but it has been consistent and not a weakness for the majority of the competition.

To have any chance of making the playoffs, KKR must win by a huge margin. With their weaker net run rate, KKR require a victory margin of more than 102 runs to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) and a margin of 111 runs or more to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). On the other hand, LSG need a win to guarantee their place in the playoffs. LSG can still finish second in two ways: if CSK lose today and LSG win; if CSK win and LSG prevail with a larger margin of runs or overs to spare. On the other hand, a loss to KKR implies Lucknow must depend on the outcomes of Mumbai Indians (MI) and RCB to qualify.

Head-to-Head:

The two teams have met each other twice, with LSG coming out on top both times. LSG won by 75 runs in their previous match which was played last season.
