IPL 2023 GT vs LSG: ‘Mohit Express’ derails LSG, lead Titans to victory by seven runs

Following this win, GT are now placed first on the points table

In the 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

LSG won the toss and asked GT to bat first. While batting in the first innings, inform Shubman Gill lost his wicket for a duck in the second innings. On the other hand, Wriddhiman Saha (47) stood strong and played the anchors knock. Moreover, captain Hardik Pandya (66) played a fantastic knock of half century which included two fours and four sixes. Pandya along with opener Saha stitched 68 runs for the second wicket partnership. While the captain played a 50 ball knock, it wasn’t backed by a strong strike rate which held their score to just 135 runs.

In the chase, KL Rahul (68) scored a decent half century but struggled in the end to hit any boundaries. Kylie Mayers (24) and Krunal Pandya (23) were the other batters to score in double digits. The Lucknow-based side only managed to get 128 runs on the board mainly due to lack of strike rate.

It was the bolwers who turned the game into GT’s favour. After posting below par score, bowlers took full responsibility to defend this. Mohit Sharma was at his best as he bowled all his off cutters on point in the final over. Sharma along with Noor Ahmad acquired two wickets while Rashid Khan also scalped one.

While bowling in the first innings, two wickets each were bagged by Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis. One wicket each was also picked up by Amit Mishra and Naveen-ul-haq.

Mohit Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling show. Following this win, GT are now placed first on the points table
